Setting off…

IMG_3705Since graduating high school in 2014, I have been interested in backpacking. What started as a plan for a trip for two friends to Europe, swiftly transformed into a solo backpacking expedition to Southeast Asia. I tried -SUPER HARD- to form some sort of backpacking route, which I soon found was near impossible to plan. Every step of the process seemed to hit a dead end, from transportation between different destinations to organising simple day tours.

It all seemed to end with no cost, and no SIMPLE answer. So I decided I would just fly somewhere and COMPLETELY wing it from there… (much to the terror of my family). So far, it has been a hell of a success. I have met wonderful people, done amazing things, seen mind blowing scenery and ate some AWESOME food.

So I wanted to create a blog. One with more specific answers and details, to make it easier for someone whom has never travelled solo and/or backpacked (both of which I am a virgin). As I go through countries, I’ll be able to tell specific details as to how to organise transportation, tours, pack your backpack and more. I’ll also be listing popular hostels, ones that I myself have stayed at, or those that have been suggested to me along the way. I found hostel suggestions really helped me along the way. I really hope this blog will encourage people to make the choice to backpack, as I have learnt very quickly how amazing the backpacking community and culture is!

I hope you’ll stick around and follow me on my adventure,

The Virgin Backpacker xx
